Mike Amato
Mike Amato is a South Bend, Indiana artist, filmmaker, and poet. His poetry has appeared in
many publications in the U.S. and Canada. A chapbook,
I Know What I Like, appeared in
1999. He has edited and published the poetry magazine,
No Exit, since 1994.

Mike has exhibited visual art, in the form of digital prints, and video work in the Elkhart
Regional, the Box Factory Juried Regional (St. Joseph, Michigan), the Carnegie Center
Juried Exhibition (Three Rivers, Michigan), and the Heartland Artists Juried Exhibition
(Plymouth, Indiana). His video work has been exhibited at the South Bend Regional Museum
of Art, and in Indianapolis at Big Car Gallery and Dorman Street. His current show at Glance
Eyewear Gallery continues through February 25. A new show at Another Book Store,
Mishawaka, opens March 1, and continues through the end of the month.

In addition to his class in Creative Writing at Studio Arts Center, Mike teaches Film Theory at
the South Bend Regional Museum. Areas of interest include Film Noir/Dark City Dames, Art
vs Hollywood, Queer as Film, M-G-M Musicals,
Screwball Comedy, and Political Action.
